Hearts and Hooves
Soddy Daisy, Tenn.
Founded in 2021, Hearts & Hooves Corral is a nonprofit that provides equine therapy to the disabled.
By connecting with and learning to ride horses, Hearts and Hooves provides emotional, cognitive, social, and physical benefits for people of different abilities.
Horseback riding engages muscles that are necessary for core strength and mobility. For riders at Hearts & Hooves, it's a great alternative or complement to physical therapy.
Horses are also very intuitive and will react to anxiety, anger, and hyperactivity. By interacting with the animals, children and adults can learn self-regulation skills. Participants also find fulfillment in taking care of another being - something as simple as brushing or feeding a horse.
Through these activities and more, the corral promotes to promotes healing and wellbeing of the whole person.
